Jaden’s “Cabin Fever” is the Mood of the Century [New Video]
As if a summer anthem couldn’t come soon enough. “Cabin Fever” has repetitively been on rotation since its official drop on my personal playlist. Jaden Smith transitions smoothly from rap to singing showing his very wide range of versatility. Simultaneously, the single dropped with the announcement of his partnership with New Balance, showcasing his shoes on the gram and his music video. The already sold out, special edition collection is deemed the, “Vision for the future of footwear,” called ((VISION)) RACER.
The latest single fits perfect considering the current state we’re all still in with the continued quarantine. But it also makes the perfect track to vibe to cruising down the freeway from Long Beach to Los Angeles (like in the cotton candy-colored top down he rides in during the music video). It’s the summer track you wish you could vibe to at a backyard BBQ, sitting poolside. Where ever you are in the world, it gives off the easy, sitting on a cloud, in a sunset vibe for sure.
“‘Cabin Fever’ is my vision of a quarantine love song. It’s made to be listened to when the sun is setting and you’re feeling good.” – Jaden via Apple Music
In fact, his official music video that just dropped replicates all the giddy feelings you might be experiencing inside while listening to it as shown in the use of bright colors and patterns emulating the 60s era, complete with psychedelic themes, tie-dye fashion (which is making a huge come back), color-schemes, and mushroom props. The love story between Jaden and his main muse make for a sweet “aww..” moment, adding melting hearts to the mix.
The song is much more than just a good song though. It’s a song that everyone can relate to on the things they might be feeling while staying stuck at home most of the time. Complete with props showing Black Lives Matter and images of victims who have recently passed during police injustices. It’s very much looking like the modern day movement. Maybe Jaden and his friends are what we would call “hippies” in the past during the 60s? The philanthropist has always been very vocal about living sustainably and giving back to the community (i.e. his company JUST WATER and the I LOVE YOU Restaurant Food truck). With the youth of this generation making noise by demonstrations and protests voicing the injustices we’re facing in society, “Cabin Fever,” really just captivates this generation.
