Make Way for StupidGenius

“Risk is a way to overcome what you fear. A lot of us aren’t all the way satisfied, but are scared to lose security and what we do have, like, ‘I might not be able to get a better job or better partner, etc.’ When you settle for what’s familiar or safe it’s because we forget that God is our security. Change is always exciting. It’s always exciting when you know God is involved. The world is designed for change. Don’t ever be afraid to take risks.” –StupidGenius (from Roll The Dice)

Anyone with a dream and the drive can easily identify their hustle and passion as relatable when you hear the lyrics off their track, “Roll The Dice,” from their 2016 Gamechangers album. That’s what initially drew me into their music alongside the bangin’, clean production and a genius flow. Chaz King and Lil Rich are StupidGenius, a cousin duo, rappers and producers hailing from Lowell, Massachusetts. They both majored in audio engineering and graduated from CDIA, Center For Digital Imaging Arts (a Boston University extension). While working hard in school, they both continued to make music individually and together.

In 2015, they released a track, Clean, featuring Tory Lanez. They’ve gained the attention of WorldStarHiphop, HotNewHipHop, The Fader, and Complex Magazine. Safe Tripz was their latest album release last year. I’m sure you’ll be hearing more about StupidGenius in the upcoming year.
